Brent currently holds the position of Vice President Internal Audit and Chief Compliance Officer for National Oilwell Varco as of January 1, 2015. Brent’s previous employment was as the Co-Chair of the Houston Litigation department, focusing on securities litigation, complex commercial litigation, and internal and governmental investigations. He has represented clients in a wide range of important cases involving issues such as allegations of securities fraud, disputes over merger and acquisition transactions, alleged anti-trust violations, broker/dealer litigation, and energy law issues. He also represented government entities, officers and employees and is well-versed in all aspects of internal and governmental investigations. He has overseen and conducted major internal investigations and represented clients before various governmental organizations including the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
His internal investigation and regulatory practice includes a wide range of issues including alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, regulations of the Office of Foreign Assets Control, Securities and Exchange Commission regulations, executive compensation, anti-trust, and accounting issues.
Additionally, Mr. Benoit was recently elected to the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors, and he is the immediate past President of the Houston Bar Association.
